Payroll Sheet Generator

Skills utilized: Software Development, Database Management

Libraries/Languages: Xlwings, Python, SQL

Developed a programme for Lady Bea's English Tea House in Edmonton, Canada to automate their payroll information's addition to Excel. The main purpose was to create a spreadsheet with accurate information, and in an easily comprehensible manner.

It reads payroll information from an Excel workbook and creates a payroll sheet on Excel, containing bi-weekly hours worked by each employee. It filters the date, employee, role, and hours worked and the information is easily discernible. This same information is then stored in a PostgreSQL database.

Increased accuracy of the information added to Excel and decreased the time by 95% compared to creating the same Excel sheet manually.

Data Analysis Tool for Lectin Microarray

Skills utilized: Software Development

Libraries/Languages: Xlwings, Python

Created the project to generate volcano plots of data from heart sample's of patients that suffered different types of cardiomyopathy. Programme used in the research of "Glycan Profiling in Cardiomyopathy Using Lectin Microarrays".

Used by the Faculty of Science graduate students of the Mahal Lab at the University of Alberta.

This programme saves over 90% of the time students would take to filter through data and generate plots; it also increased the accuracy of the filtered data and the plots.

Financial Portfolio Dashboard

Skills utilized: Software Development, Web Design

Libraries/Languages: Xlwings, Dash, Yfinance ,Python

I undertook this project for a friend who maintained his financial portfolio on Excel. The two main goals were to automate the addition of his portfolio data with the most recent data from Yahoo Finance and to display information regarding his portfolio on a dashboard.

This program saved him over 85% of the time he would take daily to add information to Excel, and it increased the accuracy of the information added.

Gross Domestic Product and Life Expectancy at Birth

Skills utilized: Data Acquisition, Data Visualization, Hypothesis Testing, Summarizing Quantitative Data, Data Wrangling and Tidying, Data Manipulation with Pandas

Software/Languages: Jupyter Notebook, Python

Project code available here.

The potential relationship of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and the life expectancy at birth (LEB) for six nations was investigated.

The data present in the dataset was for the period 2000 to 2015. The following countries were analyzed: Chile, China, Germany, Mexico, United States of America, and Zimbabwe.

The following points were analyzed:

Conclusion: In the given time frame, all six countries experienced a growth in their GDPs, albeit to various degrees. The life expectancy at birth also increased for all six nations, with Zimbabwe experiencing the largest LEB increase despite a relatively modest increase in their GDP.
The life expectancy at birth for all six countries increased as the GDP of the respective nations improved.
